A Personal Message from Gary Erskine

Hello,
Thank you to everyone who backed our First Men on Mars Kickstarter last year. We were overwhelmed by your support and have spent many months working on the book for you.
An apology.
It is now July 2024 and the original planned schedule and release date is passed and later than we originally hoped for. Working with our team of artists proved more of a challenge than expected and found us having to deal with delays due to balancing their various publishing and TV scheduled work. We also had to accommodate breaks for personal matters from our team to allow them time to return. We value the health and wellbeing of our team to allow them to deliver the best work.
For myself, I have been dealing with a move to another country [under Brexit] and the setup of a new studio, and had various health issues, which have impacted on my drawing. It has been a difficult and frustrating time dealing with visa issues and other non-FMoM related work on top of everything else. The hopeful sale of our house and a return to the UK should finally bring all that chaos to an end and bring me back to square one. A disappointing turn of events, for sure. The last two years have severely impacted my physical and mental health and my focus on FMoM and I apologise for that.
We are now in the final stages of production. Checks are underway on the art, colouring, and lettering, Additional checks for continuity are essential due to the five artists and two colourists we have working together on this book. It continues to be a Herculean task but we are on the final stretch.
Thank you again of your patience and we hope you enjoy the book when it is released.
An Update on Our Progress

Hello and welcome to this latest update.
Please accept my apologies. I'm acutely aware that we're now running late. We're still waiting for the last few pages to be drawn. Those pages which have been drawn are in the process of being coloured and lettered as we speak.
That is the state of play at the moment. Without sharing the pages which have been completed more recently (which many of you, understandably, would prefer not to be shown due to spoilers), that's pretty much all I have for you right now. I will, of course, bring you more news as and when the remaining pages are completed. All that remains is to thank you for your ongoing patience.
Very best wishes,
Paul
More Preview Pages: Yay or Nay?

Hello one and all. I hope this update finds you all in good health and high spirits.
Today I don't have an update for you so much as a question. Last week one of our backers made a very valid point regarding the recent preview pages we've been posting. He's concerned that we're possibly showing you too manypages and, in doing so, spoiling the anticipation and reading experience when the book is delivered.
So, what do you think? Do you want to see the remaining pages as they're sent in by the artists? Or would you prefer to see some of the other artwork we're working on such as future covers and spot illustrations?
Let us know!

Hello and welcome to this latest update on First Men on Mars #1.
As I detailed last week, our artists are now turning in new, inked pages on an almost daily basis. That being the case, it's an absolute pleasure to bring you another new page from Ian Richardson:
That's all for today, but we'll be back later in the week with more incredible artwork. Until then...
...Stay safe.
