Latest Updates from Our Project:

Introducing Blank Covers and Our Retailer Pledge
almost 3 years ago – Wed, May 03, 2023 at 04:28:16 AM

Hello and welcome to this, our latest update for First Men on Mars.

We've added two new pledges over the last 24 hours: a blank cover and a retailer pledge.

The blank cover features nothing more than our logo and the First Men on Mars masthead; other than that it is, as the name would suggest, entirely blank, making it a great option for those of you who would like to either draw your own cover or commission your favourite artist to draw a unique and personalised cover for you.

The retailer pledge, meanwhile, includes fifteen copies of First Men on Mars #1. This number is composed of ten copies with the standard cover by our main artist, Gary Erskine.  A copy with a blank cover, one copy each with Lee Carter and Staz Johnson's variant covers, and two copies with variant covers by Ian Richardson are also included. At only £90, this is the perfect pledge for retailers; so if you own a store and want to stock First Men on Mars, this is the option for you!

That's all for today, but we'll be back tomorrow with another update.

Very best,

Paul

Hello and welcome to our latest update.

It's been a great day for the campaign! We've passed the £5,000 barrier and are now within £1,000 of funding. With 18 days to go, we're quietly confident that we'll make it. Please continue to share the campaign with your friends and on social media; every impression counts!

Virgin Cover Prints Now Available!
about 3 years ago – Thu, Apr 27, 2023 at 07:21:25 PM

Hello and welcome to our latest update.

Whilst the sharp-eyed amongst you may have already noticed,  we're thrilled to announce virgin versions of our covers are now available as prints. These include Gary Erskine's standard cover as well as variants by Lee Carter, Staz Johnson and Ian Richardson. All are devoid of titles, copy and branding, allowing you to enjoy these fabulous pieces of art to the full.

Not only that, but the virgin covers for our Lost Treasures and PDF variant stretch goals - as created by Tiernen Trevallion and Paul McCaffrey - are now available as prints:

These virgin covers are available in both A4 and A3 format. A4 prints are £10.00 each and their A3 cousins are £15.00. We are also offering all six A4 prints for only £50.00, and the full set of A3 prints for only £75.00.

The standard versions of all these covers are also available as A4 prints. They can be added to your pledge for £10.00 each, or you can buy all six for only £50.00.

That's all for today, but we'll be back tomorrow with another update. In the meantime, please continue to share our Kickstarter with your friends and followers. With your help we can hit that funding goal and get these beautiful prints where they belong: on your walls.

Very best,

Paul

Our New Desktop!
about 3 years ago – Tue, Apr 25, 2023 at 08:07:49 AM

Hello and welcome to today's update.

After yesterday's feature on Time Bomb's Kickstarter for Brawler #3, today we'd like to turn our attention back to First Men on Mars.

As the Kickstarter for First Men on Mars #1 progresses, we at E.M.PRESS are still producing new artwork and material for not only issue #1, but also for the Kickstarter itself.  You may even have noticed the latest tweak, with Gary creating this fabulous illustration for the Kickstarter:

This fabulous image not only uses a variety of goggles, compasses et al to capture the general steampunk vibe of First Men on Mars, but it also showcases our standard and variants covers by Gary, Staz Johnson, Lee Carter and Ian Richardson:

The collection of comicbooks also features these stretch goal covers. They include Paul McCaffrey's cover for the PDF version of First Men on Mars and Tiernen Trevallion's cover for Lost Treasures, our collection of concept art and other promotional materials.

Also on show are these superb schematics. Drawn by Gary Erskine, they detail some of the various flying machines, tanks and wartomatons featured in the series:

On the desktop beside the schematics we can also see some of these postcards. They showcase Gary's promotional images and concept art created for First Men on Mars:

Finally, Gary's magnificent maps of Mars is hung on the wall. One of very favourite features from the Kickstarter, we think this map deserves pride of place on any wall!

Each of these covers, postcards and prints are included in a variety of pledges. They are also available as add-ons to your existing pledge.

Items such as Paul's alternative cover for the PDF of First Men on Mars #1 and Lost Treasures are stretch goals, and we can only unlock those stretch goals with your help. Please continue to share our Kickstarter and the updates on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagam accounts. With your help we can not only fund First Men on Mars, but also unlock all the items featured on this fabulous illustration! Thank you.

A Look at the Kickstarter for Brawler #3
about 3 years ago – Mon, Apr 24, 2023 at 10:37:45 AM

Our friends at Tome Bomb are running a Kickstarter for the new issue of their anthology title, Brawler.

This 56-page, perfect bound, full-colour anthology features eight strips, with each boasting unique characters and concepts brought to life by the likes John Higgins (Watchmen, 2000AD) and fan favourite writer Mike Carey (Lucifer, The Unwritten, Felix Castor) and many, many more!

Having already attracted over £2,000 worth of pledges, Time Bomb is now unlocking stretch goals. These include additional cards for their exciting collection of Battle Cards; these allow readers to play a Top Trumps-style card game which pits Time Bomb’s panoply of characters against one another.

In a diversion from other Kickstarters, Brawler #3 has already been finished and Time Bomb are using Kickstarter to enable backers across the world to not only pre-order this special anthology, but also to choose between a conventional or ‘virgin’ cover. The latter is free of any mastheads or other graphic design and allows the reader to fully appreciate the beautiful cover art. This art has been created by industry veteran John Higgins .It’s also, frankly, superb, and we’re very, very jealous!

The Kickstarter for Brawler #3 ends on Monday, 1st May. You can back it here.
